Title: Internal structure and void fraction profile shape in horizontal bubbly flow
Abstract: In this study, the phase distribution of an air-water bubbly flow in a horizontal test section with an inner diameter of 19.5 mm has been experimentally investigated by means of a Wire Mesh Sensor (WMS). The experimental test section is equipped with two quick closing valves (QCV) that allow the measurement of the volumetric void fraction in a length of 1300 mm. Two phase flow experiments have been performed at a constant temperature of 20 ± 2°C. In the present tests the superficial velocity ranges from 0.23 to 0.5 m/s for air and from 1.4 to 2.62 m/s for water.
