Title: EVIDENCIAS DE TECTOGENESIS DEL DEVONICO SUPERIOR-CARBONIFERO INFERIOR AL OESTE DE AUGUSTA VICTORIA ANTOFAGASTA, CHILE
Abstract: RESUMEN: En el Cerro 1584, situado al oeste de Augusta Victoria, aflora una secuencia de mas de 200 m de calcarenitas de crinoideos y productidos del Carbonifero Superior-Permico Inferior. Esta se apoya, en marcada discordancia angular, sobre una secuencia de metapelitas y metareniscas, de probable edad devonica, afines con la Formacion El Toco y unidades similares del Norte Grande de Chile. Las calizas de la Unidad Superior representan, en la zona, al episodio de sedimentacion carbonatada que, en el Pennsylvaniano-Permico Inferior, afecto gran parte del borde Pacifico de Gondwana. La discordancia que separa a las calizas de la Unidad Inferior es, con seguridad, el resultado de la importante fase de deformacion del Devonico Superior-Carbonifero Inferior, que afecta a gran parte del orogeno paleozoico de Argentina, Peru y Bolivia, siendo la primera vez que es posible acotar, en el tiempo, esta fase tectonica en el norte de Chile.
