Title: 2007-2008 Annual Update Journal of Applied Research in the Community College
Abstract: Published Issues During this past year, the Spring 2007 (vol. 14, no. 2) and Fall 2007 (vol. 15, no.l) issues were published. The Spring 2007 issue included the 2005-06 best papers of NCCCRP and of the Research and Planning Group of California Community Colleges (RP Group). Issues in Progress At this time, the Spring 2008 issue is being finalized. This is a special issue focused on assessing institutional effectiveness and student learning outcomes. All articles for the Fall 2008 issue have been identified and are in final editing stages. Publisher JARCC remains at New Forums Press, and Dr. Doug Dollar, the publisher, has worked with us to revise the cover and the print quality. In addition, we have worked with Doug on taking JARCC online and we are happy to report that the journal is expected to be fully online by the end of the summer. The online presence will significantly increase the exposure and visibility of the journal which will now be indexed in Swets-Blackwell, OCLC, British Library, EBSCO Publishing, EJS, Google, and Harrassowitz. The electronic version of the journal will be available for purchasing either by issue or by individual article. Managing and Associate Editors In February 2008, Heather Burns, who served as Managing Editor for the past five years, left this post. Melissa Banks, who served both as associate and copy editor for several years, retired after the completion of the Spring 2008 issue. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for their exceptional service and dedication to the quality of the journal. Fortunately, Diane Riopka, from South Orange County Community College District in Mission Viejo, California, has accepted to serve both as Managing and Copy Editor for the journal since March 2008. Diane is talented, detail oriented and a great colleague and she is already doing an outstanding job for the journal. Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) During 2007-2008, no new members were appointed to the EAB. Board members review manuscripts, advise the editors on the quality of the manuscripts and appropriateness for publication in JARCC, and offer critical and helpful feedback to authors. The quality of the journal is in large measure dependent on the efforts of this group. Thank you to all board members for your dedication and service to the journal! Mining/' Flow and Selection of Manuscripts The number of manuscripts submitted for review has continued to increase. …
