Title: Postmenopausal uterine bleeding of psychogenic origin
Abstract: 1.1. Five cases of postmenopausal uterine bleeding are presented. Gynecologic examination and findings did not explain the bleeding. 2.2. In these instances and in 2 observations found in the literature, bleeding followed loss of, or separation from, a loved one. 3.3. These observations confirm an earlier observation made regarding certain cases of functional uterine bleeding; i.e., this bleeding is a somatic equivalent of the psychological reaction of depression.
