The overview is limited to mononuclear systems, focusing on ST complexes with new or unusual coordination number (CN) and coordination spheres. The section on the novel coordination numbers (CN), coordination geometries and metal centres in this chapter starts with detailed reflections on iron(II) SCO complex with an N3O2C2 coordination sphere, where the iron centre has a CN of 7.2, 29. Examples of rare manganese(III)34 and cobalt(II)36 SCO complexes with N4O2 coordination spheres are also given. The chapter also discusses iron complexes with novel ligand donor atoms and new ligand systems. In this discussion, donor atom set is used as a sorting key, starting with a few selected examples with an N6 coordination sphere, followed by a larger section on new systems with an N4O2 coordination sphere and some new approaches.Read More
