Title: A Lusitania e a Iberia: um estudo da mudança na urbanização pré e pós-romanização (da pré-conquista romana ao Baixo Império - séculos II a.C a V d.C.)
Abstract: Lusitania andIberia.A study of urbanization change in pre-and post-Romanization (from the Roman pre-conquest to the Low Empire -II th BC to V th century AD) The present work tried to exhibit the change in urbanization of Lusitania starting from the study of the fora and other monumental structures introduced by Romans from the new Augustan territorial organization of the final of I st century B.C.For this the pre-RomanIberic settlements were presented with emphasis in those existent in the future territory of Lusitania, the process of Roman conquest and the Roman urbanism, the description and analysis of the forensic and public Roman architectures, which served as subsidiary material for the analysis of two case studies, the cities of Ammaia and Conimbriga, chosen because they presented distinct implantation and archaeological research histories.Other Roman settlements , in a more restricted form, were included in the Documental Corpus, which served as comparison in the analysis, specially the provincial capital, Augusta Emerita (Merida).Though the study of Roman Lusitania suffers the limitation imposed by the scarsity of available and/or published archaeological data, it was possible to observe the existence of a pattern in the urbanization introduced by Rome in Lusitania, which is apparent in the fora and further urban elements, distinct from the old pre-existing local urbanism.
