Title: International Pacific Salmon Fisheries Convention
Abstract: Altogether there are six species of Pacific salmons and one species of true salmons in the North Pacific Ocean. All are anadromous, that is, they live most of their life at sea, but return to fresh water to spawn, sometimes going hundreds of miles upriver to the spawning grounds. Each species varies in its ocean and freshwater habits, however, and it is worth while to describe the essential differences before discussing the management programs.
