Title: Attenuation by rain at 30 GHz: relationship between weather radar echoes and microwave attenuation

In the range of frequencies between 20 and 40 GHz, rain constitutes the greatest constraint. The authors suggest a method of construction of models for prediction of attenuation by rain, based on the use of weather radar images. The relationship is worked out from measurements of raindrop size distribution in parallel with attenuation measurements over a distance of 110 m. Preliminary prediction model curves are plotted for links 2, 4, 8, 10 and 12 km in length, with east-west orientation.Read More
