Title: Educational programmable hardware for prototyping digital circuits
Abstract: We present the prototyping programmable environment for teaching digital circuits. The environment consists of a PC and programmable prototyping board composed of 3 FPGAs. One FPGA is used to implement the prototyping design, while the other two FPGAs are used to implement an interface between the prototyping design and the PC. The PC is used for designing a digital circuit, automatic generation of the interface logic, programming the FPGAs, and as a test engine for functional verification of the designed circuit. The presented environment is used in the regular educational process during undergraduate study and a sample of students projects are summarized.
