Methods: Design: hospital based cross sectional survey. Setting: Medical college hospital, Karimnagar, Andhrapradesh. HADS questionnaire was used to assess the anxiety and depression among the patients admitted into hospital.
Results: A total of 353 patients were interviewed. Depression was more common than anxiety (38.6% Vs. 31.3%). There is no significant association between literacy status and different age groups. Prevalence of anxiety and depression was more common in the lower socio economic groups than upper class, which was significant.
Conclusion: Prevalence of anxiety and depression was high in a hospital setting.Read More
