Abstract: The Cassini spacecraft that will carry out a detailed exploration of the Saturnian system is described. The spacecraft is composed of a Saturn orbiter and a Titan atmospheric probe called Huygens. The scientific objectives and investigations developed for the accommodation phase of the mission are discussed. The preferred trajectories available for transit to Saturn are discussed along with Titan specific features of the tour of the Saturnian system.
