Abstract: This chapter examines common features of the following intellectual, developmental, and/or learning disabilities often encountered in children and adolescents: (a) attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), (b) intellectual disability with Down Syndrome as exemplar, and (c) pervasive developmental delay (autism and its variants). The focus will be on possible etiologies, presenting signs and symptoms, diagnostic tests, common therapies, and roles of nursing and other healthcare providers.
