Some differences of interaction forces of solutes on polar and non-polar stationary phases were taken into account. The dispersive interaction of a solute was treated in two parts, the carbon chain and the functional group(s), which led to a good fit for this correlation. In addition, the hydrogen bonding interaction should be considered in this correlation for compounds with active hydrogen atoms due to the absence of hydrogen bonding interaction on non-polar stationary phases. However, the dipole-induced-dipole interaction might be omitted for its less importance in the retention, unless compounds with great polarity are used. Correlations of some cited retention data for compounds with various functional groups were presented in the present paper, and the results were satisfactory.Read More
