Title: Planning and Control of Combined Sewerage Systems
Abstract: A Master Plan which evaluates methods to remedy the existing related problems of inadequate dry weather treatment, excessive wet weather combined sewer overflows, and inadequate storm drainage protection is examined. The conclusions of the Master Plan are based on extensive studies of existing facilities, present and future conditions, and the effects on the receiving waters of alternative plans. A real time computer based data acquisition system has been installed with 30 tipping bucket rain gages and 120 flow monitors with level gages. The Master Plan compares separate dry and wet weather improvements to combined facilities tied together with a computer based automated control system. Different treatment levels are utilized during dry weather. A variable range of storage-solids treatment combinations are utilized with split treatment during wet weather.
