Title: Analysis of fatigue crack growth on a cracked shaft
Abstract: In this study, fatigue crack growth analysis of the cracked shaft is presented, and two types of crack, straight-edge and elliptical arc, are considered. The two-parameter relationship of stress intensity factor, which accounts for the crack depth ratio and crack aspect ratio, has been determined. Using the compliance method, the loading spectrum of the shaft is calculated from monitoring deformations. The fatigue crack growth is analysed by employing a modified Forman model. In this analysis, the crack growth depends on crack depth ratio and crack aspect ratio, and a two-parameter relationship of stress intensity factor is discussed. Due to the crack aspects ratio changes in the process of fatigue crack growth, the elliptical arc crack with a two-parameter stress intensity factor is more realistic than the straight-edge crack and the circular arc crack.
