Abstract: Similarity is a main type of relation between objects in empirical data. For modelling similarity data the concept of an ordinal distance context is introduced. Based on the notions of formal concept analysis, graphical representations of ordinal distance contexts by so-called band diagrams of concept lattices are established. It is shown that hierarchies and pyramids can be understood as concept lattices of specific ordinal distance contexts. A useful reduction of similarity data to so-called threshold contexts and threshold lattices is discussed. The theoretical results are demonstrated by examples.
