Title: Twenty Recent Novels (and More) about Adolescents for Bibliotherapy.
Abstract: In Adolescent Hippie, the November Yarbrough, Novels 1984 (And and issue More) Kaplan of that The Counselors School wrote Counselor, Twenty Should Hippie, Yarbrough, and Kaplan wrote Twenty Adol scent Nov ls (A d ore) that C unselor Should Know About. We asserted that bibliotherapy can be helpful for teenagers and that troubled adolescents can profit from reading about similar difficulties facing a fictional character. We urged counselors, particularly school counselors, to acquaint themselves with such literature and, when appropriate, to use it when providing assistance to youth. Finally, the authors pointed out that such literature is increasing in both quantity and quality. Those increases have continued in the years since the first article appeared, causing us to believe that it is worth updating with a discussion of more recent novels. We have followed the same format of the first article a listing of some 20 problems adolescents encounter, with a description of one young adult novel in which that problem is a central feature and a mention of several other novels that deal with
