Abstract: One big disadvantage of microcontrollers is that they do not have an output display. So far one has only been able to see a binary output of the microcontroller using LEDs. This would allow the microcontroller to communicate using text messages and numbers. The LCD typically has an 8-bit data bus labeled D0 to D7. Embedding multiple LCD messages inside the main Flowchart can make the chart become long and tedious. One way to simplify LCD messages is to place the messages in smaller satellite Flowcharts called macros. These messages may then be called at anytime from anywhere within the main Flowchart. If one has programmed before, calling smaller flowcharts is similar to creating and calling subroutines.
