Title: Prioritization methods and Department of Energy applications
Abstract: The objective of this effort has been to review existing prioritization methods and assess their applicability to safety and health issues and projects in the US Department of Energy (DOE). The DOE is in the process of developing planning processes that incorporate safety and health considerations. The overall process includes a plan to establish prioritization systems incorporating risk factors as part of an integrated resource management process that could be used throughout the DOE. This could involve the assessment of hundreds of safety initiatives having wide-ranging purposes and involving dozens of sites located throughout the US.
