Abstract: This article attempts an examination of conflict resolution among the Nchumuru. First, I shall examine the socio-political institutions evolved by the Nchumurus to deal with conflict resolution. In the second part of the paper, I shall examine the various forms of conflicts among the Nchumuru and the mechanisms evolved to give notice of the existence of a conflict. The third section of the paper deals with the resolution of conflict at the various levels -village, town, clan and ethnic. In the final part of the paper, I will take a look at the role of the Asafo companies in conflict resolution. Data for writing this paper was obtained from interviews I had with some Nchumuru traditional rulers from Northern Region and annual reports of the region submitted to the Chief Commissioner of Northern Ghana by Colonial District and Provincial Commissioners.
