Title: The Prediction of Travel Behaviour Using the Theory of Planned Behaviour
Abstract: The Theory of Planned Behavior contains 3 main factors: subjective norms, attitudes and perceived control of behavior. This theory has been utilized to forecast a range of behavior. In this paper it is used to predict travel behavior, particularly mode choice. The modes covered include automobile travel, walking, and bicycling. The study was undertaken in four cities in Europe - Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Barcelona, Spain; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Gothenburg, Sweden. The study evaluated travel behavior and attitudes in these cities because they have different levels of bicycling and walking, and thus they could provide a comprehensive picture of travel behavior and mode choice.
