Abstract: Following the ratification of the intermediate-range nuclear forces (INF) Treaty the Bulletin invited Dmitri Yazon, the Soviet Defense Minister, to describe current Soviet current views about, European security. Yazov agreed, and this is his first article written for a U.S.-based publication. He proceeds to put in perspective the much too dangerous European situation, as well as the Soviet views in constructing their armed forces to account for the possibility of nuclear or conventional was arising from the U.S. and NATO military and strategy philosophy.
