Title: RELIABILITY INVESTIGATIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS OF THE COOLING SYSTEM OF A SELF-COOLED LIQUID METAL BREEDER BLANKET
Abstract: For the lead lithium self cooled breeder blanket determinations of the availability of the ancillary loops have been performed and the design has been improved iteratively to reach a sufficiently high reliability level. The paper shows that the availability is unacceptably low when each component failure causes a system outage. Only by redundancy of the main components a sufficiently high availability of the total system can be achieved.
