Title: Upskilling our rail workers for today and tomorrow
Abstract: QR Limited's vision is based on performance, focusing on our customers, our people, our owners and our organisation. To support this vision, the Infrastructure Services Group (ISG) management team has implemented a number of best practice initiatives to maintain the critical civil infrastructure roles and skills requirements to meet an ever-changing internal and external marketplace. Underpinning these initiatives is the recognised need to proactively manage staff development within ISG and foster a sustainable, skilled workforce for the future, one that is competent, confident and competitive. Key components of our workforce development success have been the Civil Infrastructure Development Project, the Civil Infrastructure Workforce Development Framework, a comprehensive workforce development network, extensive literacy/numeracy assessment and support, the introduction of a formal mentoring process, and the development and delivery of high quality technical and people skills training programs and multimedia support products. Our passion for workforce development, coupled with our best practice initiatives, is resulting in positive outcomes for the organisation and the individual.
