Title: Algorithms to Compute the Reflection Coefficients of Digital Filters
Abstract: Three algorithms are given which compute explicitly or implicitly certain coefficients in a recursive scheme to generate polynomials. It is shown how these algorithms solve some Padé-like approximation problems. As a special case of these algorithms we obtain the Levinson and Schur methods to compute the reflection coefficients in linear predictive filtering. The third algorithm generates a table of numbers related to the reflection coefficients by certain rhombus rules. By some numerical examples we show how we can obtain information about the stability properties (pole location) and zero structure (transmission zeros) of the transfer-function of the system from all of these three algorithms.
