Abstract: O artigo aborda a organização dos trabalhos de tradução empreendidos pela Royal Asiatic Society of Britain and Ireland em fins do XIX, as rotas islâmicas de tradução e transmissão científica pesquisadas pelos orientalistas e questões relativas a historiografias nativas e História da ciência. O objetivo é trazer aportes para a discussão da historicidade assimétrica no Orientalismo acadêmico, pensando a colaboração nativa em traduções historiográficas e o peso da investigação orientalista no debate dos marcoshistóricos fundacionais da noção de Modernidade.
