Title: Notes on Lunário Perpétuo’s production, circulation and reading between Portugal and Brazil
Abstract: This present article brings elements about the production, the circulation and the reading of portuguese editions of Lunário Perpétuo, by Jerônimo Cortez in Brazil.Originally hispanic, dated from the end of the sixteenth century, the book met several portuguese traditions that circulated in brazilian « sertões » since the eighteenth century.Inserted in the genre almanac, Lunário Perpétuo presented a long journey, conveying features of the portuguese heritage in Brazil to, at least, mid last century.Gathering a calendar of astrologic and religious nature, to wich was aggregated many sections that pointed to the resolution of practical life questions, the book disseminated certain traditions that included the oral culture, the respect to old ages and the esteem for the sacred, at the same time it was open to multiples readings, performed to the flavor of the circumstances, spaces and the time in wich it circulated.
