Title: Recent Determinations of Conversion Coefficients of E2 Transitions Obtained from Coincidence Techniques and the Peak-to-Beta Spectrum Method
Abstract: This chapter discusses recent determinations of conversion coefficients of E2 transitions obtained from coincidence techniques and the peak-to-beta spectrum method. Coincidence techniques, which open possibilities beyond single measurements, may lead to high accuracies in the determination of conversion coefficients. Several types of coincidence measurements can be performed to determine a conversion coefficient. The choice of the method may depend on the special properties of the decay scheme of the nuclides for which such a coefficient is to be determined. Determination of the product of the coincidence efficiency and the beta-ray spectrometer transmission (CCT) may play an important part in the determination of a conversion coefficient. Such a determination can be obtained using various types of coincidence measurements or using calibrated sources. A large number of conversion coefficients of low energy E2 transitions in the rare earth region have been reported. Some results have been obtained by means of coincidence techniques.
