Title: Breaking the Ladder: Synthesis of Acoustic Wave Ladder Filters with Series Resonators Placing Transmission Zeros Below the Passband
Abstract: This work demonstrates how an acoustic wave ladder filter can place transmission zeros below the passband with some of its series resonators. This approach provides an additional degree of flexibility in the structure. Additionally, the same approach is applicable to filters starting in shunt resonator where some shunt resonators can be used to place transmission zeros above the passband. This novel concept, derived from an accurate synthesis approach, enables the design of advanced responses that are not restricted to having the transmission zeros evenly distributed between the upper and the lower stopbands thus achieving improved rejection and selectivity. Synthesized examples of these filters are shown and their Butterworth - Van Dyke model elements are provided.
