Title: Synthesis, spectroscopic, anti microbial, anti cancer and DNA cleavage of mono nuclear bidentate Schiff base Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes obtained from (3,4-bis((E)-(1-(2- hydroxyphenyl) ethylidene)amino)(phenyl) methanone
Abstract: The preparation, characterization and metal ion uptake studies of two functional C = N, OH groups are reported. The ligand was obtained by reaction between 3,4 Diaminobenzopheone and ortho Hydroxy Acetophenone. The Schiff base ligand (–C = N), OH groups easily coordinated to the metal ions such as Co (II), Ni(II),Cu(II) and Zn (II). CDCl3 and DMSO‑d6 are used as solvents to make the ligand and its metal complexes soluble. The geometry of the metal complexes were identified by IR, UV–Visible, 1H and 13C NMR and Mass spectrometry (MS). The 1H NMR is used to determine the C = N, OH groups FT IR spectra values are indicate that the M−O, M−N bonding nature in metal complexes. The fundamental role of the properties such as micro structure, surface morphology and porosity were obtained from SEM micrographs. The thermal stability of complexes were studied by thermo gravimetric analysis. All the complexes were studied that cyclic voltammetry. The metal complexes were studied by anticancer, DNA cleavage assay and antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobial results indicate that the all the complexes exhibit better activity than the ligand. In particular Cu (II) complex showed anticancer activity higher than its ligand.
