Title: Evaluation of some newer insecticides against gram pod borer (Helicoverpa armigera Hübner) on field pea
Abstract: Bio-efficacy of some newer insecticides e.g. Emamectin benzoate 5% SG, Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC and Indoxacarb 14.5 SC along with one botanical insecticide (Neem Seed Kernel Extract) was evaluated against gram pod borer, Helicoverpa armigera in field pea during rabi season of two consecutive years. Amongst different insecticides Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 25 g a.i./ha was the most effective insecticide in minimizing the larval population of pod borers and reducing pod borer damage besides recording highest gain yield. Though the treatment comprising of NSKE recorded the minimum increase in yield over control, the grain natural enemies population was least disturbed in this treatment. Maximum incremental cost benefit ratio 1:7.28 and 1:6.42 of 7.28 and 6.42 during first and second year, respectively obtained from Indoxacarb 14.5 SC @ 60.0 g a.i./ha, however highest incremental benefit (Rs. 19501/ha and Rs. 20094/ha during first and second year, respectively) obtained from Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 25.0 g a.i./ha.
