Title: Application of fresh-keeping film package combined with warm box in low body temperature of low birth weight infants
Abstract: Objective
To explore the effect of plastic film package and warm box on low body temperature of low birth weight infants.
Methods
80 low birth weight infants with hypothermia (anal temperature < 36 ℃) were randomly divided into a study group and a control group, 40 cases for each group. Both groups were given the same comprehensive treatment. In the control group, the newborns kept warm in the ordinary warm box and carried out routine nursing care; in addition, the study group were wrapped the newborns’ torsos and limbs with fresh keeping film. The vital signs (body temperature, blood pressure, and percutaneous oxygen saturation), blood glucose, blood gas analysis, rewarming time, oxygen therapy time, hospitalization time, and complication rate were observed and compared between the two groups.
Results
The vital signs, blood glucose, and blood gas were significantly better in the study group than in the control group 2 and 6 hours after hospitalization; and the rewarming time, oxygen therapy time, and hospitalization time were significantly shorter in the study group than in the control group [ (3.53±1.02) h vs.(4.82±1.13) h, (25.72±2.33) h, ( 28.67±2.28) h, and (20.74±2.35) d vs. (22.72±3.16) d], with statistical differences (all P<0.05).
Conclusions
Fresh-keeping film package combined with warm box can effectively reduce heat dissipation, promote rewarming of low birth weight infants, and maintain the stability of body temperature, reduce the damage of hypothermia to tissues and organs, effectively improve clinical symptoms, and shorten hospitalization time. It is conducive to the recovery of the disease. And the implementation process has no obvious adverse reactions, high safety. Therefore it has certain clinical application value.
