Title: Effects of Life Analytic Counseling Intervention on the Freshmen’s Academic Adaptation
Abstract: The present study investigated the effectiveness of Life Analytic Counseling on freshmen’s academic adaptation. 64 university students were assigned to experimental group and control group. The experimental group received a six-week intervention while the control group remained un-intervened. The Academic Adaptation to College Questionnaire and Autonomy in Learning Rating Scale were used to measure all participants at three time points, before and after six-week intervention, and on the sixth week after the intervention. After six-week intervention, the experimental group showed significant increase in academic adaptation and learning autonomy, with scores of learning motivation, self regulation and mode of teaching higher than the control group. Life Analytic Counseling may be effective to improve freshmen’s academic adaptation, especially to learning motivation and self regulation.
