Abstract: A case of cystic disease of the liver, in which the entire left lobe of the liver was removed surgically, is presented. The condition is discussed as to etiology, pathology, diagnosis and treatment. As far as we were able to determine from the literature, this is the first reported case in which the entire left lobe of the liver was removed for cystic disease. The only other reported case of a similar nature was that of von Haberer, who, in 1908, removed the entire left lobe of the liver, wherein was nonparasitic solitary cyst, which occupied the greater part of that lobe.
