Title: Design of Shitang Hengjiang River Bridge on Hangzhou Bay Road in Ningbo
Abstract: To suit the aesthetic and functional requirements of urban bridges, the Shitang Hengjiang River Bridge on Hangzhou Bay Road is designed as a cable-stayed bridge with a single pylon. The main bridge is a single pylon cable-stayed bridge with span arrangement of(33+42+51+44) m,and with a deck width of 40.5 m.One auxiliary pier is added to the side span and the main span respectively with the intention of forming a structural system with a continuous unit of four spans. The main girder adopts the six-cell single box prestressed concrete box girder with inclined webs. The columns of the pylon are arch-shaped,a big and a small steel arches lean at an 10° angle along the bridge length and intersect with each other at the upper part.A 4.5 m long steel-concrete joint section serves as a transition between the arch-shaped pylon and its pedestal. The stay cables are fanned out in double cable planes and anchored to the pylon arches by means of pin-axis connection. In terms of construction, the pylon was hoisted and erected segment by segment and the main girder was cast in place in segments on scaffoldings. The results of the finite element calculation indicated that the strength, rigidity and stability of the bridge were able to meet the relevant requirements.
