Title: The Significance of Multi-slice Spiral CT(MSCT) in Observation of Ostiomeatal Complex Anatomic Variation and Paranasal Sinusitis
Abstract: Objective To realize the relationship between the variation of ostiomeatal complex(OMC) and paranasal sinusitis through CT observation about ostiomeatal complex anatomic variation. Methods Using Philips Brilliance 64 MSCT do axial thin slice volume scanning on 137 patients who has been confirmed with sinusitis by clinical in our hospital during the year 2009-2011, then perform coronal, sagittal reconstruction and focus on the observation about the anatomic variation of ostiomeatal complex. Results within the 137 cases of sinusitis patients: the rate of middle turbinate reverse bending is approximately 12. 8%, middle turbinate over gasification is about 32.1%, nasal septum deviation is about 67. 2%, uncinate process migration is about 39.1%, ethmoidal bulla excessive gasification in about 40.9%, agger nasi over gasification is approximately 4.7%, Haller gas room is about 15.7%. Conclusion MSCT can clearly display the correlation between anatomical variation in the ostiomeatal complex and paranasal sinusitis.
