Title: A Controlled Study in Treatment of Depression with Duloxetine and Fluoxetine
Abstract: Objective To study the efficacy and safety of duloxetine in the treatment of major depression.Methods This was a randomized 6 weeks study,70 outpatients and inpatients diagnosed as depression were randomly assigned into duloxetine group with duloxetine and fluoxetine group with fluoxetine.The efficacy was assessed by Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD) and the safety was assessed by treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS).Results The mean values of HAMD total scores in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group at the end of the first two weeks(all P0.05),but there was no significant difference between the two groups at the end of week4,6(P0.05).Conclusion Duloxetine is a safe,effective and rapidly responsive antidepressant.
