Title: Treatment of chronic constipation by therapy of warming yang, invigorating spleen, regulating qi and relaxing the bowels
Abstract: Objective To observe the curative effect of the therapy of warming yang, invigorating spleen, regulating qi and relaxing the bowels on chronic constipation. Method The patients (n=60) were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group (each n=30). The treatment group was treated with the therapy of warming yang, invigorating spleen, regulating qi and relaxing the bowels, and the granules of Chinese medicinals included Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Herba Cistanches and Semen Raphani orally. The control group was treated with Simotang Oral Solution orally. Result After the comparison and rank sum test the result showed that P0.05 and there was a statistical significance in difference between two groups. The cure plus effectual rate of the treatment group was 86.7 % and that of the control group, 60.0 %. The difference in the cure plus effectual rate between two groups was statistically significant (χ2=0.020, P=0.039), which indicated that the cure plus effectual rate in the treatment group was higher than that of the control group. Conclusion The therapy of warming yang, invigorating spleen, regulating qi and relaxing the bowels has an obvious curative effect on chronic constipation.
