Title: Changes of Liver Function in Infants with Asphyxia
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of asphyx ia on the liver function of infants in hope to help to judge the severity and exte nsion of important organ damage in infants with asphyxia and to direct treatment .Methods Total serum protein (TP),alubumin (ALB),total bil irubin (TbiL),aminotransferase (ALT),γ-GT and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were examined in 65 cases of infants with asphyxia.30 cases of healthy donors were se t as control group. Results TbiL in patients with asphyxia were lower than in healthy donors. The severity of asphyxia was in line with lower TbiL (P 0. 01).ALT went up during asphyxia, which was higher when severity of asphyxia inc reas ed.In contrast,TP,ALB,γ-GT and ALP showed no change during asphyxia. Conclusion Asphyxia can result in liver function damage i n infants. The severity of asphyxia is associated with TbiL value.Liver function measurement should be supplemented in Apgar score.Protection of liver function is important for asphyxia so as to alleviate organ damage.
