Title: STUDY AND APPLICATION OF WATER CONING CONTROLLING TECHNIQUES FOR THIN-BED RESERVOIRS WITH BOTTOM WATER
Abstract: The key of development for reservoirs with bottom water is to depress water coning or control coning of bottom water, prolong the water-free oil recovery period as much as possible, and make bottom water even displacing in order to reach the purpose of improving the developing results for reservoirs with bottom water.Aiming at the practical situations of Luliang oilfield, which has the following characteristics: its main producing formations-Jurassic and Cretaceous reservoirs consist of thin pays;most of the pays have medium or high permeability;all the pillar pays have edge and bottom water;there are no solid interlacing beds between pays and aquifers;oil and water distribution is complex;and water cut increases rapidly in oil wells during production, the application study of water coning controlling techniques is conducted. With visualized physical simulation facilities, the model is developed for the thinbed reservoirs with bottom water. The effective pack-off is set up below the thin pays when well completion is done without perforation. The sufficient optimization is conducted for the formula, usage and working parameters of all using work fluids and the pilot tests are performed in the fields. With selecting injection method, the packer is placed near the oil/water boundary of the thin pays to control the invasion of bottom water. The water cut of oil wells and the increasing velocity of water cut is controlled effectively. The target to control coning of bottom water and inhibit increase of water cut is reached. The good results are achieved. The techniques can widely used in the development practice for the thin-bed reservoirs with bottom water to control water and stabilize oil production.
