Title: Efficacy of High-dose Ambroxol on Severe Pneumonias to Elderly Patients with Cerebral Stroke
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the curative effect of large does ambroxol on severe pneumonias to elderly patients with cerebral stroke. Methods:From January 2010 to December 2012,62 elderly patients with severe pneumonia treated by ambroxol were randomly divided into general does group(n=30) and large does group(n=32).General does group received 30 mg ambroxol in 100 ml normal saline.intravenous drip, twice daily for 14 d,and large does group received 90 mg ambroxol in 100 ml normal saline, intravenous drip, third daily for 14 d.The other therapeutic measures in all patients were accorded to 2007 guidelines for Community Acquired Pneumonia.Arterial blood gas and clinical pulmonary infection score(CPIS) were used to detect the degree of pulmonary infection. Results:CPIS in large dose group during treatment of 7 d [(6.45±2.13)scores] and 14 d [(5.57±1.53)scores],were significantly lower than in general dose group at 7 d [(6.63±2.31)scores] and 14 d [(6.47±2.06)scores](P0.05).Arterial blood gas(PaO2) in large dose group during treatment of 7 d [(79.84±8.96)mmHg]and 14 d[(86.36±9.52)mmHg] were significantly higher than in general dose group at 7 d[(79.84±8.96)mmHg] and 14 d[(86.36±9.52)mmHg](P0.05).Conclusions:High-dose ambroxol is efficient and safe for severe pneumonias in elderly patients with cerebral stroke.
