Title: Paleogene-Neogene Slope-break Zone and Its Controls on Lithologic Traps of Southwestern Area of Qaidam Basin
Abstract: The slope-break zone theory is used for the study on exploration of lithologic traps in the studied area and the slope-break in the southwestern area of Qaidam Basin is classified into structural slope-break zone, sedimentary slope-break zone and erosion slope-break zone. The paper presents the growing feature and origin of each slope-break zone.It is believed that the slope-break zone majorly controls lowstand tract;the structural slope-break zone is prone to develop nearshore delta fan body or subaqueous fan of lake basin edge during lowstand period and turbidite fan at the bottom of lake basin during lowstand period and therefore lenticular shape channel sand body lithologic trap is formed;the erosion slope-break zone obviously controls erosion valley lithologic traps and it is believed that the three-level slope-break of the Tiemulike-Qiekelike depression in the southwestern area of Qaidam Basin controls from upper to lower respectively the development and distribution of erosion valley traps, stratigraphic overlapping traps and turbidite fan traps. The lithologic traps of key blocks in southwestern Qaidam Basin in the studied area are predicted and evaluated based on the reservoir-forming conditions of sedimentation, reservoir, oil source and migration, and the types, horizon, evaluation, etc of lithologic traps of each block are presented. The paper summarizes the reservoir-forming mode of lithologic reservcir development in key blocks and it is believed that the 7 steep slope belts of Qigequan and the structural slope-break zones of Hongliuquan are the most advantageous blocks for the development of lithologic traps in the studied area.
