Title: Study on group counseling to improve locus of control and physical-mental health of Internet addiction vocational students
Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of group counseling on improving the locus of control and physical-mental health of Internet addiction vocational students,so as to provide the evidence for the intervention.Methods The students in Songyuan Vocational and Technical College were investigated by using Network Symptom Survey,and 18 students with the score 5 points and meeting the clinical definition of Internet addiction were selected as an experimental group,and they received the group psychological counseling for 4 months,and 27 students meeting the clinical definition of Internet addiction were formed as a control group.Before and after the counseling,the effects were evaluated by the locus of control scale and symptom checklist.Results(1) The factors of powerful students(t=2.81,P0.013) and the opportunity(t=3.891,P0.003) in the experimental group decreased after the group counseling significantly.(2) Except compulsory and psychiatric factors,the other factors changed a lot after the counseling.Before the counseling,the factor scores of the two groups were not significantly different,but after the counseling,the other factors except the mental disease factor were significantly different.Conclusions Group counseling is effective in improving the psychological locus of control and physical and mental health of Internet addiction vocational students.
