Title: 256-slice spiral CT axial and coronal reconstruction of ostiomeatal complex comparison of normal anatomy and variation observed
Abstract: Objective:To study the differences in displaying capabilities of normal anatomical structures and regional variations with multic-slice spiral CT(MSCT) axial and coronal reconstruction in ostiomeatal complex(OMC).Methods:32 healthy cases and 23 cases of non-use of the nose and paranasal sinuses due to diseases underwent head and neck CT scan. The standard axial and coronal reconstruction were performed after conventional scanning to observed respectively the displaying capabilities of normal anatomy of the region structure and variation of ostiomeatal complex. Results:Axial and coronal reconstruction imaging of the bilateral frontal sinus openings, middle turbinate and middle meatus was no significant difference in displaying capabilities. But the axial imaging displaying capabilities of the screen hopper, before and middle ethmoid sinus, maxillary sinus opening and the uncinate process was significantly difference than the coronal. Conclusion:The coronal displaying the normal structure and variation of the ostomeatal complex region was better than axial, coronal reconstruction can replace the coronal scan and eliminatethe the coronal scan inconvenience to patients.
