Title: Hypoxemia and its clinical significance in patients with liver cirrhosis
Abstract: To study the incident of hypoxemia to assess its role in liver injury, portal hypertension in cirrhotic patients. With automatic blood gas analyzer the arterial oxygen was detected in 20 normal subjects as control group and 50 cirrhotic patients. Alveolar arterial oxygen gradients (AaDpO_(2)) in cirrhotic patients were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.01).Partial oxygen pressure of arterial blood (PaO_(2)) was significantly lower in cirrhotic patients than that in control group (P<0.01).Hypoxemia was related to portal hypertention.Changes of oxygen in arterial blood may provide a new index in the assessment of liver function, and it is closely related with the severity of liver cirrhosis.
