Title: A control study on treatment of generalized anxiety disorder with escitalopram and buspirone
Abstract: Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of escitalopram in the treatment of generaliized anxiety disorder. Methods:The patients accorded with the inclusion criteria were divided into study group and control group. The patients in study group were administered with escitalopram and the control group was treated with buspirone for 5 weeks. The Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Clinical Global Impression Scale(CGI),and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS) were used for evaluating score before treatment and 1,3,5 weeks after treatment. The effects was assessed by the reducing score rate of general score of HAMA.Results:After 5 weeks of treatment, the response rate was respectively 79.41% and 80.56% in study group and control group, without statistical difference between the two groups (χ2=0.01,P0.05).At the end of the first week,HAMA scores and CGI scores in the two groups had statistical difference compared with before treatment (P0.05),HAMA scores and CGI scores in study group were statistical different compared with control group(P0.05).The adverse effects were few or slight in both groups. Conclusion:Escitalopram is effective and safe with less adverse reactions in the treatment of generaliized anxiety disorder.
