Title: Analysis on epidemic situation and treatment outcome of tuberculosis in Pingxiang City from 2005-2012
Abstract: [Objective]To analyze the epidemic situation and treatment management surveillance results of tuberculosis in Pingxiang City of Guangxi( the border area between China and Vietnam),provide a scientific basis for the sustainable development in tuberculosis prevention and control. [Methods]The data from the Tuberculosis management information system in Pingxiang City,as well as the monthly reports,quarterly reports,annual reports and related information from the tuberculosis prevention and control institutions in Pingxiang City during 2005-2012 were collected and analyzed. [Results]The incidence of tuberculosis showed a downward trend in Pingxiang City from 2005-2012. The incidence rate increased from 162. 11 / lakh in 2005 to 203. 07 / lakh in 2007,afterwards it began to decline in 2008,and reached 112. 73 / lakh in 2012. Cases were mainly concentrated in the 25-64 year-old age group,accounting for 67. 51% of the total cases. The incidence in 35-44 year-old age group was the highest,which the cases accounted for 18. 90% the total cases,followed by 55-64 year-old age group,accounting for 17. 66% the total cases. The male patients with active tuberculosis were significantly more than female patients( 2. 09∶ 1). 69. 84% of cases were farmers. During 2005-2012,the cure rates of smear positive tuberculosis patients reached over 87. 80%,and the average cure rate was 92. 25%.[Conclusion]The epidemic situation of tuberculosis in Pingxiang City is serious,and it has been gradually controlled since implementing the tuberculosis control strategy in 2008.
