Title: Direct-expansion solar-assisted heat pump water heater and the thermal economical analysis
Abstract: This paper introduces the typical configurations and operation principles of the direct-expansion solar-assisted heap pump water heater(DX-SAHPWH).Calculations of energy consumption of various water heaters, including the DX-SAHPWH,the air source heat pump water heater, the solar water heater, the electric water heater, and the natural gas water heater, are conducted.DX-SAHPWH's market potential,thermal-economics,and pollution reduction benefit are analyzed.Compared with other types of water heaters, the DX-SAHPWH has the lowest energy consumption, which operation cost is 1/3 of that of the electric water heater,1/2 of that of the natural gas heater and 4/5 of that of the air source heat pump water heater.Compared with the electric water heater, the extra initial cost payback period is about two years. The DX-SAHPWH and the air source heat pump water heater have similar initial costs.Due to its nature of energy saving, pollution reduction, and safety for use,the DX-SAHPWH has strong potential market.
