Title: Preparation of Mullite Nanopowder and Its Impact on Al_2O_3 Ceramic Performance
Abstract: Using Al(NO3)3·9H2O and colloidal silica as raw materials,mullite nanopowders was prepared,and the sintering property,bending strength and thermal shock resistance of Al2O3 ceramics doped with Mullite nanopowders were investigated.It was found that the single phase Mullite could be formed at the calcining temperature of 1200 ℃,and the average diameter of powders was 50-60 nm.The bulk density,bending strength and thermal shock resistance of Al2O3 ceramics were improved with the addition of 2wt%-10wt% Mullite nanopowders.Doped with 5 wt% Mullite nanopowders,the bending strength of Al2O3 ceramics sintered at 1650 ℃ and thermal shocked at 1200 ℃ were 247.49 and 218.52 MPa respectively.
