Title: Research on remaining oil distribution and potential tapping in point bars
Abstract: Remaining oil distribution and potential tapping in point bars have been studied by using reservoir numerical simulation and indoor physical simulation as well as sealed coring data. The study shows that as hindered by lateral accretion, there are nearly 20% OOIP within the point bars has not been well produced, mainly in the top of the point bars and the upper part of the lateral accretion.According to the characteristics of remaining oil distribution, demonstration has been performed regarding incremental oil and economic benefit after using potential tapping methods such as horizontal wells, vertical wells, pulse water injection, profile control and water plugging. The results indicate that the preferable technology recommended for producing remaining oil inside the point bars would be profile control and water plugging, and if profile control is conducted in water injector, corresponding measures shall be implemented in oil producer.
